For every shade, every technique, and any application—whether anterior or posterior, monochromatic or layered, bulk fills or esthetically demanding cases —the Ecosite family of composites from DMG seems to do it all. The newest family member, Ecosite One, is no exception. The single-shade composite combines accurate color matching with excellent handling properties and rapid curing to unlock valuable time savings during posterior restorative procedures.

“Anything that can be done to speed up a procedure helps,” said pediatric dentist Dr. Joel Preminger, who is thrilled with Ecosite One. “This new composite requires no bonding or etching. Because of the color matching, I am able to shorten and speed up the restoration time needed,” he shared.

With some fierce competition in the single-shade composite arena, DMG’s Ecosite One ranks up there with the best of them—DPS best products, that is. This composite is “easy to use, allows me to move quicker, and improves my overall speed and efficiency, allowing me to be a better pediatric dentist,” Dr. Preminger explained.

Consistency and Sculptability

Available in 4-gram syringes or 0.25-gram Safetips, Ecosite One is indicated for Class I and II posterior fillings, Class V fillings, core buildups, extended fissure sealing, and restorations in deciduous teeth. The DMG Push-and-Flow effect allows the material to provide excellent adaptation to the cavity walls and flexible sculptability in the occlusal area. A 3-mm curing depth and a 10-second rapid cure help save procedure time.

Noting that "dispensing was very easy," Dr. Anthony Vocaturo said, "The sculptability and 10-second cure time was really great as well." Dr. Jonathan Dubin is “always looking for a strong esthetic composite that handles extremely well,” and he hit the jackpot with Ecosite One. “The handling was very, very good, and the shading was very good at mimicking the tooth color.”

Extremely pleased with the material's sculptability, Dr. Carmen Nelson explained, “It has enough resistance to effectively condense with minimal stickiness, allowing you to place anatomy into the prep before curing. This saves time with polishing and post-curing anatomy placement.”

Praising its “adaptability to the preparation and nonsticky consistency,” Dr. Allan Mohr said, “It reduced time in posterior composite appointments.” Dr. Dmitriy Yarovitsky called it "very easy to work with and sculpt" and said its easy handling “saved chair time.”

Unlike “some resin materials that slump or deform slightly after placement,” Dr. Robert Wilkoff reported “little deformation or change in Ecosite One prior to curing. He liked “the dense, malleable consistency of the material" and said, “It demonstrated very good handling and excellent outcomes.”

Noting that Ecosite One “is easy to use and performed especially well in Class I and V restorations,” Dr. Michael Pavelchek suggested it could be a little bit stickier. Dr. Raymond Lee called it a “good handling composite” and enjoyed its “nonsticky, creamy” consistency.

Shade Matching

Hoping for “easier shade matching” and to reduce her “large inventory of shades,” Dr. Nelson said Ecosite One’s single shade solved both these problems “surprisingly very well.” Her “dental assistant really enjoyed no shade selection,” and she said, “Ecosite One is definitely a time-saver.”

Dr. Pavelchek agreed that “the inherent shade matching is a time-saver” and said it’s easy to “just grab and go.” Noting that it “increased efficiency,” Dr. Sarah Kong explained, “It made it easier to color match, was easy to use with excellent results, and worked well in anterior and posterior restorations.”

Pleased that Ecosite One "blended well for most posterior composites,” Dr. Ashish Arya also pointed out that “it minimized the number of shades we need to stock.” Praising “the ability to layer properly and blend,” Dr. Phil Harper said the “layering effect brought vitality,” and called it “especially helpful in a Class IV anterior central case where the patient left happy.”

Explaining that “the shade matching was excellent,” Dr. Dubin suggested, “An additional darker option would be nice to have." Dr. Vocaturo was glad to be "able to match the existing tooth structure while eliminating the underlying blocking of stained dentin."

Polish and Gloss

Ecosite One is formulated for effortless polishability and high gloss finish. “Of all the one-shade composites I have tried, this has to be the one with the best polishability,” Dr. Nelson explained. “This material works exceptionally well, and I was most impressed with its polishability.” Dr. Mohr named “polishability” as one of his favorite qualities, and Dr. Dubin said he liked “the handling, the shade matching, and the polish all equally.”

Overall Satisfaction

Claiming there is “absolutely nothing” to improve about Ecosite One, Dr. Preminger said, “It allows me to restore teeth on pediatric patients more quickly.” Dr. Wilkoff declared, “It worked as well as or somewhat better than other posterior composites,” and Dr. Mohr said, “This has become one of my go-to composites.” Rating his overall satisfaction as excellent, Dr. Dubin decided, “I like using Ecosite One; it makes me happy when restoring teeth."
