Googles Professional Eyeshields are designed to be both fashionable and protective. TotalCare describes the eyeshields as extremely comfortable and lightweight. In addition, the optical-grade plastic lens can be easily and inexpensively replaced.
Thirteen dentists and hygienists participated in this Dental Product Shopper evaluation of Googles Professional Eyeshields. They rated and commented on features such as weight and comfort, fit, frame durability, protection, and vision clarity.
Weight and Comfort
Googles Professional Eyeshields are big enough to fit over glasses, but the manufacturer also states that they are lightweight so that they are comfortable to wear.
When asked to rate the weight of Googles Professional, 10 evaluators rated weight as excellent and 2 rated it as very good (1 evaluator did not rate this feature). With regard to comfort, 5 evaluators rated the eyeshields as excellent, 5 rated them as very good, 2 rated them as good, and 1 rated them as poor.
Eleven of the evaluators noted weight and comfort as their favorite features of Googles Professional. A hygienist from Danville, VA with 20 years of experience described her staff's reaction to the eyeshields: "We loved the weight being so light on our heads. You hardly knew you had it on." A hygienist from Rome, NY, said, "[They are] so lightweight that I would forget I had them on."
Fit, Durability, and Protection
Googles Professional Eyeshields come in 4 pearlescent colors - cobalt blue, composite gray, pearlescent pink, and pearl white. The reusable frames can be disinfected and they fold for easy storage. In addition, the eyeshields are designed to fit over prescription glasses.
Four evaluators rated frame durability as excellent, 6 rated it as very good, 2 rated it as good, and 2 rated durability as fair. Eleven of the 14 evaluators rated the frames fit over glasses, 4 as excellent, 3 as very good, 2 as good, 1 as fair, and 1 as poor. When asked about facial coverage (protection), 7 evaluators rated Googles Professional as excellent, 6 rated them as very good, and 1 rated them as good.
A hygienist from Arlington, VA with 30 years of experience described the eyeshields as, "Very lightweight with excellent coverage on the sides and top as well as the front of the face." She went on to say, "It actually hugs your face, therefore no splashing of water and debris over the top portion of the frame." Another evaluator said she was "able to wear [them] over my own glasses without distortion or discomfort."
Lens: Vision Clarity and Ease of Replacing
TotalCare describes the Googles Professional lens as being made of opticalgrade plastic and compliant with the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. In addition, the manufacturer says that the lens can be replaced easily and inexpensively.
Six evaluators rated vision clarity of the disposable lens as excellent, 4 rated it as very good, 2 rated it as good, and 2 rated it as fair. When asked about the ease of replacing the lens, 5 rated it as excellent, 5 rated it as very good, 3 rated it as good, and 1 rated it as fair.
One evaluator said, "The disposable lens is nice and easy to change." Another evaluator said, "Replacing the lens was so easy."
Overall Satisfaction
Eleven evaluators said they would definitely or probably recommend Googles Professional Eyeshields to colleagues and 10 said they would definitely or probably puchase them in the future. When asked about their overall satisfaction with Googles Professional Eyeshields, 5 rated them as excellent, 6 rated them as very good, 2 rated them as fair, and 1 rated them as poor.
When asked what they would like to see improved, one evaluator noted fogging, saying, "Correct this, and you would have a great product." A hygienist from McDonough, GA with 34 years of experience said, "I have worn protective goggles off and on for many years. I think that this is a product I would use regularly because of the comfort factor."
