A Texas dentist with 32 years of experience said, “This appliance gives patients a new affordable smile, as well as confidence.” He continued, “There are also some cases where Snap-On Smile is needed as a temporary appliance and the patients love it because there are no clasps or adhesives needed.”
Snap-On Smile is a patented, removable full or partial arch that snaps over the patient’s existing dentition - without impinging on the gingival tissue or covering the palate. It fits over the teeth—even if the patient has stains, chips, gaps, or missing teeth—to provide a beautiful, natural looking smile.
Eight dentists who have been working with Snap-On Smile for at least a year participated in this product evaluation. They commented on ease of use, patient comfort, and esthetics along with use as a provisional and as a long-term enhancement.
Ease of Use
Manufacturer Description: Getting a Snap-On Smile requires two visits to a dentist with no drilling and no change in tooth structure. The appliance is easy to care for and snaps in place without adhesive, fitting over natural teeth.
Evaluator Feedback: When asked what they liked best about the Snap-On Smile, an evaluator with 33 years’ experience said, “Very little if any tooth preparation (drilling) is required.” This same evaluator noted that “customer service from the manufacturer is outstanding.” A Florida dentist shared, “At times it can be very difficult to insert and remove,” while an Ohio dentist simply stated he liked “ease of use” the best. Two evaluators would like to see improvements with the Snap-On Smile lab, noting issues with contouring and fit of the appliance. Another dentist from Ohio would like a “better warranty” and 2 evaluators would prefer a faster turnaround time.
Patient Comfort and Patient Acceptance
Manufacturer Description: Patients can eat, drink, and function normally while wearing the Snap-On Smile. Retention is completely tooth-borne, so the appliance does not impinge on the gum tissue or cover the palate, making it look and feel very natural.
Evaluator Feedback: “Patient comfort and ease of placement” is what a California evaluator liked best about the Snap-On Smile.
Another dentist remarked, “Patients with naturally prominent teeth facially, or very long teeth, are not good candidates for Snap-On Smile.” The “quality is consistently excellent,” said a Texas dentist who rated patient acceptance as excellent and patient comfort as very good.
Esthetics, Use as a Provisional, and Long-term Smile Enhancement
Manufacturer Description: Snap-On Smile’s proprietary formula of dental resin makes it very thin, yet strong. The appliance can be a temporary or permanent cosmetic solution and is available for upper and lower teeth. For many people, Snap-On Smile can be life changing; it gives back the confidence to smile.
Evaluator Feedback: Regarding esthetics, 1 evaluator commented, “The best aspect of Snap-On Smile is that it can instantly enhance a patient’s smile and appearance.” A dentist who rated esthetics as very good would like to see “better consistency in the esthetics of the final product,” while another would like it to be “more natural looking.”
A dentist with 26 years’ experience uses the appliance as a provisional “for implant surgeries during [the] healing phase,” and a New Jersey evaluator mentioned that it “can change the entire appearance of the patient’s smile instead of wearing a partial.”
Another evaluator, who rated Snap-On Smile’s use as a provisional as excellent, said the appliance “has its place in the tool box” but did like it as a permanent esthetic solution.
Overall Satisfaction
One evaluator, who rated overall satisfaction as excellent, liked that Snap-On Smile “is noninvasive, reversible and affordable…a great alternative for those who cannot afford a traditional ‘smile makeover’.” Another dentist said, “There is no other product on the market to compare it to.”
