Traditional freehand direct composite veneers can be artistically challenging, time-consuming, unpredictable, and not always cost-effective. For Australian-based dentist Dr. Sigal Jacobson, there had to be a better, less invasive way to create long-lasting, esthetic composite veneers. So after spending years working with engineers to create the ideal design and process for an anterior facial matrix template system, Dr. Sigal introduced the Uveneer direct composite template kit to the dental market.
A group of dentists provided feedback to Dental Product Shopper about their experiences with Uveneer, a unique, minimally invasive template system that creates beautiful direct composite veneers with predictable shape and symmetry—all in one visit. Each template mimics natural dentition and is designed to create high-quality, natural-looking anterior restorations.
“I used this system to create esthetic upper anterior restorations for a patient who did not want to orthodontically improve the position of several upper anterior teeth,” said Dr. Stephen Gordon, one of the dentists who took part in the evaluation.
Ease of Use
With the Uveneer System, clinicians can use any preferred composite material, and the results are consistent and predictable with regard to final tooth shape, shine, and smile design that otherwise would be difficult or impossible to accomplish. It is also very easy to use because minimal tooth preparation is needed.
“Past the initial learning period, this is a very predictable way to do chairside veneers or mock-ups,” Dr. Kenneth Chae said. Dr. Gordon told DPS, “[With the Uveneer System, it was an] easy procedure to perform and obtain reasonably nice results.” Dr. Rita Sabaitis said, “The ease of use and the consistency of the end results are the key reasons I would recommend the Uveneer template system.”

Time Savings
With Uveneer templates, clinicians can create veneers with predictable shape and symmetry every time, for every patient. According to the manufacturer, dentists who use the Uveneer System report that they are performing many more composite veneer procedures than before because they find the process so quick and easy.
"I think they are a great time saver for veneers and gingival erosions,” Dr. Robert Friedstat noted. “[The Uveneer system provided a] great, finished restoration in a fraction of the time needed to do a conventional direct resin composite or veneer,” said Dr. Daniel Song. “[The Uveneer System] probably saves about 15 minutes per tooth versus the traditional method of stack and cutback,” Dr. Chae added.
Patient Satisfaction
Uveneer is designed to create beautiful direct composite veneers in one visit, resulting in an affordable process for patients, which has led to a higher case acceptance rate for dentists.
"Patients love the final results,” commented Dr. Song. “[The Uveneer System is] nice for patients who cannot afford laboratory-constructed veneers,” shared Dr. Gordon. “[It is] perfect for patients who need anterior orthodontic tooth re-positioning, but for whatever reason (such as cost or timeframe to complete) desire a lower-cost, instant transformation.”
Several evaluators told DPS about specific patient experiences. Dr. Jerry Spytatos noted, “My patient, a relative, was very thrilled with the quick results.”
Dr. Sabaitis described a patient who was very self-conscious about her smile. “She works with the public in a hospital setting and she found that she did not feel comfort-able interacting with people,” said Sabaitis. “I had just received my Uveneer kit, so I thought I would see if I could get a result [that was] similar to the video shown,” she commented. “It was a long appointment, but her expression at the end was priceless. She is so grateful to have the beginning of a new smile.”
Similarly, Dr. Mohammad Al-Asadi noted, “A local orthodontist referred a 16-year-old patient to our office to have bonding done quickly on peg laterals prior to bracketing...He gave us 24 hours to do it,” said Dr. Al-Asadi. “One of our young associates was able to complete the procedure quickly and impress the orthodontist and the family!”
