Filling the Delivery Void in Restorative Procedures

Whenever we interview dentists about direct restorative materials, whether it’s a composite, cement, glass ionomer or other flowable, we always make it a point to ask, “What sets this material apart from other similar products?” Many dentists comment on ease of use—not just the ease of shaping the material, but the product design and delivery system.

You’ve heard the saying, “It’s all in the delivery.” That also goes for the void in your patient’s x-ray! A material’s delivery system affects handling, which affects clinical outcomes. But what can you do when each manufacturer’s delivery system is slightly different than the next? You may want to consider a universal solution like AccuDose disposable tubes and plugs by Centrix.

Invented by Centrix more than 40 years ago, AccuDose eliminates the problem of repetitive pad-to-mouth motion by putting the entire mixture at your fingertips. This allows the user to quickly and more cost-effectively dispense composite or cement while reducing voids and porosities in restorations. Because they’re disposable, you can eliminate cleanup and cross-contamination.

According to a Centrix product manager, the top-selling AccuDose is the 20ga Needletube in PhotoBloc orange. The PhotoBloc orange tint blocks light and extends the life of light-activated materials, while the needle tube design is ideal for injecting materials into postholes, deep proximal boxes and tunnel preps.
