Easy-to-use, light-cured cement designed specifically for veneers exhibits color stability and gives clinicians a flexible option they can trust
Dr. Devin McClintock has always relied on BISCO’s Choice 2 cement for her porcelain veneer cases. She’s tried other options in the past, but none really compare. She’s found that Choice 2, which was recently updated with new packaging and a fresh new look, works the best in her hands and always provides exceptional results.
One of the benefits? Its versatility. Dr. McClintock doesn’t like working with runny materials and prefers the thicker consistency of Choice 2. In cases where she needs the material to be more easily spread, she uses BISCO's Porcelain Bonding Resin. This creates a surface that allows Choice 2 to be spread in a more uniform layer.
“It has that duality, that flexibility, to let me modify and adapt depending on what kind of situation I have,” she said of Choice 2. “That’s critical. I don’t have to stock 1 thick cement, 1 runny cement, and 1 medium cement. I get all of that in 1 material.”
Because resin cements tend to be more flowable, they don’t always stay in place. The light-cured Choice 2 stays where you put it, which is critical to veneer cementation success. This allows Dr. McClintock to make adjustments at her own pace and light cure when she’s ready.
“Working with a light-cured cement gives me the ability to ensure everything is in place and that the veneer is seated and isolated how it should be, so I don’t make common mistakes,” she said. One problem dentists run into is failure to properly isolate the veneer, resulting in contamination and impacting longevity. The light-cured function of Choice 2 allows Dr. McClintock to take her time in carefully seating each restoration and achieve the desired esthetic results. "I have time to work with the material, to seat it, and not have to rush through anything," she said.
The material also has the right amount of give, so she doesn’t have to apply a lot of pressure to seat it—making a once meticulous procedure a little easier.
A Translucent Option
Choice 2 is also translucent—which is important to Dr. McClintock. “It doesn’t interfere with the underlying color of the tooth, which I’m a big fan of,” she said. “I prefer to not have the color modified by the cement if I can. There are some cases where a tinted cement is beneficial, but I try to work with my lab tech to get the color right from the beginning.”
Dr. McClintock uses BISCO’s All-Bond Universal as her adhesive system for veneer cases, saying that the material works with Choice 2 seamlessly to create a strong bond. “I love that All-Bond Universal can be used for pretty much any situation and it’s the same protocol,” she said.
Over the years, she has had only positive experiences with Choice 2. She knows patients will leave her office with a beautiful new smile and her work will stand the test of time. “It just works really well,” she said, “and has given me some of my best results.”
