When an employer or employee is unaware of rules and regulations set forth by the FDA, EPA, OSHA, and the Department of Health and Human Services, the dental office opens itself to potential criminal or civil legal violations. It is true that what you don’t know can hurt you in a court of law. HIPAA violations occur every year in the U.S. and have led to organizational costly settlements and fines.
