Doxa: Better Solutions Through Biocompatibility
The Swedish company demonstrates mastery of the relationship between dental materials and the oral environment
While traditional dental cements offer immense utility, they also can create a host of problems. In Doxa’s home country of Sweden alone, issues like loosening veneers and crowns required an estimated 70,000 recementing procedures annually. This led Doxa to embark on a mission to revolutionize restorative dental materials.
History of Innovation
Doxa’s parent company, Doxa Dental AB, was formed in Sweden in 1987. For the next decade, the company ventured into dental filling materials, the first and second generations of which attained CE, ISO, and FDA approval. One of Doxa’s early successes was Xeraspine, a biocompatible injectable calcium aluminate ceramic designed for treating vertebral compression fractures. Their next innovation, XeraCem, eventually became Ceramir Crown & Bridge, the company’s flagship product.
In 2009, Doxa continued its research and development focus and added a sales and marketing side, launching Ceramir in Sweden. With the success of Ceramir, the U.S. subsidiary, Doxa Dental, Inc., was formed in 2011.
Continuing Expansion
Today, Doxa holds an extensive patent portfolio and is recognized as a leader in proprietary bioceramic technologies. The company continues to expand its reach with the help of strategic partners and reputable distributors. Doxa’s industry accolades include the New Product Innovation 2010 award from Frost & Sullivan and the Cellerant Best of Class Technology award from 2013 through 2016. In addition, DPS evaluators have bestowed Doxa with Recommended and Best Product awards.
Ceramir Protect LC Syringe
Ceramir Protect LC Syringe is a lightcured, resin-modified bioceramic pulp protectant for direct and indirect pulp capping. It provides pulp protection by releasing calcium on moist tooth surfaces, promoting hydroxyapatite and tertiary dentin formation. The material features high alkaline pH hostile to bacteria and supportive of hypersensitivity prevention and healing.
Ceramir Restore QuikCap
Resin-free and self-curing Ceramir Restore QuikCap pairs conventional glass ionomer with Ceramir technology to deliver a tissue-friendly and bioactive restorative. Usable in all indications for conventional glass ionomers, the material exceeds the capabilities of traditional restoratives by offering lower acid solubility, enhanced chemical integration, and beneficial mineralization. Continuous calcium and fl uoride release plus biocompatibility make Ceramir Restore Quik Cap perfect for pediatric and geriatric cases, but it provides durable, long-lasting restorations for all patients.
“I am always happy to use Doxa products because they are cutting-edge and benefit my patients.”

Ceramir Crown & Bridge QuikCap
Designed to minimize secondary decay risk, Ceramir Crown & Bridge Quik Cap integrates with tooth structure at a molecular level to ensure a permanent seal. Surface hydroxyapatite formation minimizes microleakage and occludes marginal gaps, and biocompatibility promotes patient comfort. Ceramir Crown & Bridge QuikCap requires few steps and no pretreatment.
Ceramir Bioceramic Implant Cement QuikCap
Ceramir Bioceramic Implant Cement QuikCap is the only implant cement with apatite-forming ability. This 100% resin-free material forms a tight seal between ceramic and metal. Ceramir Bioceramic Implant Cement also offers clinicians the benefits of excellent flowability and seating, along with easy excess removal thanks to a controlled gel phase
