“I think of DS World as one of the industry’s annual highlights,” Peatey said. “It brings attendees closer to some of the most renowned experts in digital dentistry and provides opportunities for peer-to-peer learning. We also unveil the latest Dentsply Sirona technological advancements, so those who attend are ‘in the know,’ and that’s an exciting and motivating opportunity.”

While DS World has become well-known as an unforgettable 3-day educational experience with industry-leading speakers, digital innovation, and world-class entertainment, the 2024 edition promises to be even more special.

Top-Notch Education with More Hands-On Courses

This year’s robust educational offering includes over 100 educational sessions led by more than 80 industry experts, covering a wide range of topics such as digital dentistry and 3D imaging, endodontics, implants, clear aligners, restorative, preventive, and many others.

And in response to demand, the number of hands-on courses has been increased to 17, a DS World first. Hands-on sessions will cover specialties (endodontics and orthodontics), assisting (endodontics and restorative), and hygiene (preventive). A dedicated Tech Room, equipped with 40 laptop stations, will host design courses using DS Core Canvas to support 3D printing for splints, dentures, and more, offering participants the chance to engage in immersive, practical learning experiences.

“Maybe one of the most anticipated hands-on courses will be ‘Bone & Beyond,’ a 3-hour session with pig jaws, focused on developing essential skills such as the periosteal releasing incision and advanced suturing techniques,” Peatey noted.

The mainstage speaker lineup features some of the most renowned experts in the profession—including Dr. Sam Puri, Dr. Jenny Apekian, Dr. David Landwehr, and Dr. Varisha Parikh—delivering insightful presentations across multiple disciplines. This year, DS World will have a new emcee, Dr. Mona Patel, while renowned healthcare futurist Dr. Vin Gupta, a prominent medical expert and tech visionary, will deliver the keynote address on the future of healthcare.

“On top of that, we will have more than 60 other speakers delivering great breakout sessions,” Peatey shared. “We did something a bit different and exciting this year as it pertains to our speaker lineup. Since we believe in giving dental professionals a voice and helping them grow, we announced our first ever open call for speakers. And the results were amazing—we received over 80 submissions!”

Livestream Procedure Featuring Full-Mouth Reconstruction

Peatey believes one of the highlights this year will be the live procedure, which has become an annual favorite for many DS World attendees. Meena Barsoum, DMD, MS, will perform a full-mouth reconstruction, livestreamed to the main stage during the event.

“DS World attendees will experience the entire procedural journey, from patient diagnosis and treatment planning—which will be shared via prerecorded video—to the final restorations and implant crown delivery, livestreamed to the main stage,” Peatey said. He noted that audiences can follow along from the diagnosis and treatment planning, meet the patient, and learn more about Dr. Barsoum as part of a social media series in the weeks leading up to the live-procedure event.

DS World is an annual showcase for dental product innovation and game-changing technologies, and this year will be no different, especially with Dentsply Sirona unveiling its latest marvel, Primescan 2. The next-generation intraoral scanner opens a new era of digital patient care, allowing scanning directly to the cloud on any internet-connected device. The wireless, highly versatile Primescan 2 is powered by the DS Core cloud platform, allowing practices to expand the services they offer to patients and grow their business.

Celebrate with Incredible Entertainment

“While clinical education is the focus of DS World, entertainment has always been a big part of the event because it creates a fun networking environment,” Peatey noted.

This year will see the debut of a new entertainment concept, DS World Fest, on Thursday, Sept. 26. Held outdoors, the evening will feature a diverse lineup of food-truck inspired fare and live entertainment. Third Eye Blind, the iconic band behind Top 10 hits including "Semi-Charmed Life," "Jumper," and "How's It Going to Be,” will headline.
