You can’t do today’s dentistry with yesterday’s tools, and whether you’ve just embraced technology or you’ve been scanning patients for years, the definition of digital dentistry simply isn’t what it used to be.

It’s a truth embraced by Dentsply Sirona, whose launch of CEREC 40 years ago marked the beginning of digitization in dentistry. And while many thought it incredulous then, CAD/CAM dentistry is steadily becoming the standard of care for a growing number of clinicians, who each day rely on tools like the CEREC Primescan and Primemill to deliver exceptional treatment to their patients.

Over the years, the individual components of the CEREC system have been optimized to create a seamless workflow and make digital chairside dentistry faster, easier, and more reliable. That includes the intraoral scanner, with the new Primescan 2 ushering in an entirely new era of digital patient care.

Quality Scans in the Cloud

The first cloud-native intraoral scanning solution, Primescan 2 doesn’t require any dedicated hardware. That’s because DS Core, Dentsply Sirona’s cloud platform, allows users to initiate a scan from any device with an internet connection, such as a tablet, operatory PC, or dental chair computer. When the scan is complete, Primescan 2 can be easily moved to the next patient while clinicians do treatment planning, initiate lab orders, or access manufacturing workflows on any connected device.

With the same speed, accuracy, and ease of use as its predecessor, Primescan 2 features a tip size and outer shape that have been redesigned with a leaner angle to easily scan molars and hard-to-reach distal surfaces, while a closed design around the field of view helps protect against cross-contamination.

Scan data is immediately available on DS Core and stored with other patient files, creating a comprehensive digital record that can be easily shared with patients or lab partners
