Enhance Adhesion with ZR-C and ZR-P
But wait, before you bond, it may be wise to apply ZR-C and ZR-P, a universal cleanser and primer duo that was evaluated as a team in a recent DPS product review.
“Without great adhesion, there is a greater chance of sensitivity and the restoration coming off,” said Dr. Miyasaki, adding that in most cases, these issues are avoidable. “I’ve talked to many clinicians frustrated with their zirconia restorations debonding. During initial try-in, salivary and phosphate contamination on the intaglio surface prevent the adhesive from attaching well. ZR-C removes almost 100% of this contamination, and then ZR-P primes the surface as a coupling agent to the adhesive and cement, improving retention.”
Dr. Miyasaki uses ZR-C and ZR-P to cleanse and prime all his indirect restorations, including metal, lithium disilicate, and zirconia. With no mixing or shaking required, both products are easy to apply and rinse off. “Having to recement a restoration is time-consuming and frustrating for both the clinician and patient," he said. "The adhesive strength that I get after using these products in nothing short of amazing.”
A Dry Field, Simplified
Maintaining a dry working field during any restorative procedure is critical to success. Vista Apex makes that simple with Quick-Stat Free, a clear hemostatic agent with prefilled syringe delivery and a short hemostasis time.
“I never liked aluminum-based products because of their lack of efficacy,” admitted Dr. Miyasaki. “But the chemists at Vista Apex re-engineered it by adding magnesium and special surfactants that help the aluminum penetrate deep into broken blood vessels.”
