Scan Confidently with the DEXIS™ IS 3800W
The IS 3800W intraoral scanner offers fast scanning and intuitive operation

I like the intraoral scanners and the updates they’ve made over the years. The IS 3800W is very quick at capturing data, so when you’re moving around the tooth, you don’t have to move extremely slow for it to pick up. And the robust IS ScanFlow software deletes non-tooth related items captured in the background, like a mirror or a glove, so you don’t have to go back and cut it out yourself.
IS ScanFlow also allows us to do shade selection for the lab and has a metal reduction setting that’s helpful if you’re dealing with metal crowns. I also love the fact the scanner itself is wireless. You don’t have cords draping over the patient. They also did a great job developing the WiFi connection, which has no issues with the network in the office.
Variety of Workflows
I use the IS 3800W for a variety of workflows, including single-unit crown and bridge, single-unit implants, implant bridges, and full arches. When we’re doing prosthetic-driven implant planning, I can take a scan, send it to the lab, and use it for complete dentures or immediate provisionals.
It's great to be able to physically show patients their case. I simply scan the patient as they are and send that data to the lab with instructions to complete a diagnostic work-up that they can hold in their hands. The cast clearly shows them what’s achievable if they follow through with treatment. It’s so much more effective than showing before-and-after pictures of other cases.
Seamless Integration
I’ve used DEXIS radiography products in the past and am the loving DTX StudioTM Clinic imaging software. The integration has been seamless. The platform allows me to save all my intraoral scans, CBCT imaging, extraoral scans, and intraoral photos in one place, which is great. It’s also easy to use. If you have a CBCT unit from another company, it bridges. It’s an open system, so it’s very easy to work with labs and referring clinicians. We can send everything immediately, including any notes we want to include in the prescription, and it integrates with the lab’s software.
Getting Patients Involved
Digital scan technologies allow the patient to be more engaged in their treatment. For example, they can see their teeth being captured immediately, and from there, they can visualize their teeth or notice a broken posterior tooth with bad decay or discoloration. I'm able to send the lab more detailed information, and with complex cases, patients can approve the tooth set up from the lab before moving forward.
A Production Booster
Intraoral scanners allow me to maximize clinical productivity because my assistants have transitioned smoothly into utilizing this technology. And unlike traditional impressions, digital is instantaneous. When you're scanning the preparation or scanbody in real time and you notice an area you'd like to refine, you can easily make the needed adjustments by quickly rescanning in just that selected area. It’s a real time saver and helps maximize production.
