Sensitive? Join the club! Sensitivity is one of the most common patient complaints in dentistry, and as a result, the dental marketplace is filled with dozens of desensitizers. Having worked in the field for 3 decades, Karen Davis, RDH, has used well over 2 dozen desensitizers throughout her career.

“I first came across Shield Force Plus at a dental conference, and I learned that it was little bit different from most of the other desensitizers because it also provided a second layer of protection for sensitive or vulnerable areas,” she shared. “So, that really piqued my attention!”

Desensitizer + Added Protection

Made with a safe, glutaraldehyde- and irritation-free resin formula, Shield Force Plus is also fluoride-free and features a unique Double Block Technology, which offers 2 layers of protection against sensitivity.

The first layer penetrates dentinal tubules by forming resin tags that penetrate 50 .m deep for immediate pain relief. Next, after light curing, the second layer of 10 .m forms a protective film over the resin tags, which acts as a barrier on dentin and protects it from sensitivity, bacteria, and abrasion—for up to 3 years.

Add a Shield to Your Toolbox

“This is a very effective and almost instant desensitizer for my patients who have very sensitive areas,” Davis explained. “I have treated many of the same patients for over 30 years, and I’ve seen how abfraction lesions get deeper over time, especially when we factor in numerous acidic exposures, aggressive brushing patterns, abrasive toothpastes, or clenching.

"I can’t emphasize enough that you need a lot of tools in your toolbox to make patients comfortable, and I would say that having a great desensitizing agent that also offers a layer of protection is a top priority for all dental professionals."
