Take the Easy Path to a Successful Polish
Peter Dantini, DDS, shares how he saves time and inventory space while effortlessly polishing zirconia and other dental materials to a perfect, glossy shine with Microcopy’s 2-step system
With an ideal combination of strength, biocompatibility, and esthetics, zirconia has become a premier material for crafting dental restorations. Though it offers exceptional benefits, zirconia also presents dentists with new challenges. One of the frustrations of working with the material is that, when restorations require adjustment after placement, diamond burs alter the surface texture, leaving striations and scratches that reduce a once-glossy shine. To help dentists quickly and easily return zirconia crowns and other restorations to a smooth, mirror-like finish following adjustment, Microcopy developed NeoShine, a 2-step system for simply, safely, and successfully polishing a range of dental surfaces.
Perfect Polishing in 2 Simple Steps
After learning about the NeoShine zirconia polishing system through Dental Product Shopper, Dr. Peter Dantini decided to purchase the system for his general practice in Stamford, CT. An early adopter of many modern dental technologies (he was one of the first dentists in his area to leverage dental lasers, digital x-rays, and CEREC), Dr. Dantini has over 30 years of experience with the equipment and materials used in CAD/ CAM restorations. The NeoShine polishing system, however, instantly stood out as a winning solution. “I tried it out and immediately thought, ‘Oh, this is good,’” he said.
Like many dentists, Dr. Dantini prizes easy, straightforward solutions. “Inherently, I’m always looking for the simplest way to accomplish a task,” he explained. “If I can find something that will work for me in 1 or 2 steps, I’m a very happy person.” NeoShine meets this criterion as, in just 2 steps, the mini cups and points allow you to polish anywhere in the oral cavity, including pits, fissures, and hard-to-reach tooth anatomy. Thanks to the speed, flexibility, and simplicity offered by the system, Dr. Dantini found it “easy to use” and noted that it saves time during every procedure.
“NeoShine has replaced multiple polishing systems that I own—the product is that good.”

A Solution for Every Surface
In addition to cups and points made for zirconia polishing, the NeoShine line also includes polishers designed specifically for composite and metal surfaces, as well as flexible discs for composite, metal, and porcelain, each color-coded for easy identification. The pink zirconia polishers have become Dr. Dantini’s “go-to for occlusal finishing for CEREC restorations,” although he noted that they “work equally well on everything from composite to enamel.” He has found that he achieves the best results when occlusal surfaces are prefinished using an egg-shaped fine diamond, such as a Microcopy’s NeoDiamond, before finishing with NeoShine 2-step zirconia polishers.
“I like to reduce my inventory, even if it means I have to buy a product that costs a bit more,” he said. “NeoShine has replaced multiple polishing systems that I own—the product is that good.” Also impressive is that, though each pre-sterilized, individually packaged miniature polisher is advertised as single-patient-use, Dr. Dantini has derived up to 4 uses from 1 polisher after repeated autoclaving. Unlike other products that “destroy themselves exceptionally quickly,” Microcopy’s NeoShine can often survive multiple procedures and sterilization cycles, making it a high-quality, cost-effective option “comparable to anything from another premier manufacturer.”
