A matrix is a matrix. Correct? Not always. Whether it’s related to cost or convenience, many clinicians use the same matrix system for both anterior and posterior restorations—with not always optimal results. But there’s a better way. The Unica Anterior Matrix is an anatomically contoured matrix system geared specifically for anterior restorations. The system is born of Directa Dental Group's re-cent acquisition of Polydentia, a Swiss company and worldwide leader in matrix products and accessories.

A versatile system for direct anterior composite restorations, Unica Anterior Matrix takes over where traditional matrices fall short, particularly when it comes to adapting correctly to the unique contours and morphologies of anterior teeth.

Ideal for Direct Composite Veneers

“Many dentists use vertically positioned sectional matrices for anterior restorations, which are the same ones used for posterior areas,” said Andrea Cenacchi de Polzer, International Sales Manager, Polydentia. “Customizing a matrix wastes time and may not be as accurate as something that's made for this purpose.”

Developed in collaboration with StyleItaliano, a worldwide dental community, the ready-to-use Unica Anterior and Unica minideep matrices are ideal for direct composite veneers; Class III, IV, and V anterior restorations; and shape modifications of all anterior teeth, maxillary and mandibular. Dentists can restore interproximal and cervical margins at the same time and with a single matrix, all while reducing the time normally required for restoration.

Stability and Predictability

“It’s ultrathin stainless steel is ideal for tight contact surfaces and for closing diastemas and gaps,” Cenacchi de Polzer explained. “Once positioned, dentists can visualize the final shape before starting the procedure, ensuring excellent predictability.”

The Unica Matrix system locks into place to provide stability while shaping, particularly for diastemas, where it's challenging to correctly shape on both sides of the tooth and maintain balanced proportions.

Cenacchi de Polzer is excited about introducing the Unica Matrix system to the U.S. dental market. “Our mission and vision are perfectly aligned with the Directa family,” he said. “From now on, ‘Hollywood’ smile lovers will not be able to do without Unica!”
