The portable, space-saving design of the DEXIS NOMADTM Pro 2 handheld X-ray system gives clinicians the freedom of mobility while improving efficiency

Without a portable X-ray device, “patients had to be at the clinic to get X-rays taken,” shared Dr. Nayyar. Having NOMAD Pro 2 removes that obstacle and “is a great device for community dental health coordinators and dental hygienists to take X-rays at a remote site and communicate with their dentists via teledentistry,” she explained.
Praising NOMAD Pro 2’s “mobility and versatility,” another dentist said, “It allows me to take radiographs at different locations and gives me more options chairside.” Compared to wall-mounted X-ray units, Dr. Scott Bridges said, “Two NOMADs can serve 4 treatment rooms with ease, saving space and money.” When asked to recommend improvements to NOMAD Pro 2, several dentists suggested that the device could be lighter in weight.
Patient Satisfaction
With NOMAD Pro 2, Dr. Nayyar said clinicians can conveniently and efficiently take X-rays without the patient needing to leave the operatory, a win-win for the patient and practice. She believes the portable technology could be very helpful to hygienists, teledentists, and their patients. Samantha Montoya, a clinic coordinator, said having the NOMAD Pro 2 allows clinicians better accessibility to patients and is also “great for teaching students.” The system’s “portability and good quality images” are Dr. Charles Kattuah’s favorite features, and he pointed out that “a full-mouth series of X-rays can be taken faster” with NOMAD Pro 2 compared to a traditional wall-mounted unit.
Practice Benefits
With all the equipment required in a modern dental practice to run a profitable business, dentists are always considering ways to improve efficiency, which might involve reducing equipment expenses. Instead of investing in 1 permanently-mounted X-ray unit for each operatory, why not consider 1 or 2 portable X-ray units that can easily be moved between operatories and to offsite locations?
Dr. Bridges did exactly that and discovered that NOMAD Pro 2 saves valuable office space, especially with “narrow operatories with little room for traditional swing-arm X-ray units.” He said, “The NOMAD allows me to keep the X-ray units in a central location, avoiding costly and ugly units on the walls. It is also easier to manipulate when compared to traditional X-ray heads.” Dr. Nayyar noted that the system is useful “while teaching students in small groups when the wall-mounted X-ray units are being used.”
After remodeling a couple of his operatories, Dr. Kattuah removed the wall-mounted X-ray tubes in favor of NOMAD Pro 2, which he said now gives him the flexibility to take radiographs in any operatory. Praising the “movability” of NOMAD Pro 2, Dr. Randy Jones said, “It made taking radiographs much simpler in angulation and room assignments.”
Overall Satisfaction
Calling NOMAD Pro 2 “a great device to help with access to care,” Dr. Nayyar and the other evaluating dentists are pleased with its flexibility, quality, and portability.
