For a Strong Bond, It’s All About All-Bond Universal
Backed by more than 30 years of research, All-Bond Universal offers dental practices an all-embracing adhesive for any restoration with just one drop from a single bottle
The term “universal” is touted repeatedly by dental manufacturers to describe adhesives that are applicable across a variety of procedures, as well as capable of achieving predictable, high-quality results. However, actualizing this convenience—saving steps and time by combining activator, primer, and adhesive in one solution—often comes with a catch that diminishes the product’s promised value and versatility.
On the contrary, Dr. James DeFilippo found no catch using All-Bond Universal light-cured adhesive on his posterior and anterior restorations for well over a decade, saying there is an obvious reason he remains loyal to this single-bottle bonding system. “It has always worked well for me,” he shared. “It’s simple, quick, and backed by BISCO’s good name. There may be other bonding products that could do the job, but I see no reason to switch.”
All-Around Versatility
Compatible with all light-, self-, and dual-cured materials, All-Bond Universal can be applied to any direct and indirect restoration using self-, total-, or selective-etch bonding techniques. Its low film thickness allows it to easily flow into etched surfaces, and its moisture tolerance makes it usable on wet, dry, or moist tooth structures.
“The fact that there is only one bottle is a time saver.”

“The fact that there is only one bottle is a time saver,” said Dr. DeFilippo, who favors a selective-etching technique and moistens the tooth surface with glutaraldehyde prior to applying the hydrophobic universal adhesive. “The biggest benefit is that you don’t need to put acid etch on the dentin or disturb the smear layer before application.”
All-Bond Universal doesn’t require a separate activator to be used with cements, composites, or core buildup materials. Even without applying an acid etch, it provides excellent bond strength to dentin and other substrates.
More Durability, Less Postop Sensitivity
“When we began using All-Bond Universal, it was astounding how little postop sensitivity patients were experiencing. It was like night and day, even during deeper restorations,” Dr. DeFilippo noted. “Sometimes, I use All-Bond Universal on sensitive teeth with erosion or abfraction to provide patients with relief and have had repeated success. We’re a bit spoiled now, because if a patient does report postop sensitivity, albeit rarely, we are disappointed.”
On top of All-Bond Universal’s proven flexibility, compatibility, and reduced postop sensitivity, it offers long-term benefits with enhanced durability, too. “The restorations that we place with All-Bond Universal seem to last well,” Dr. DeFilippo said. “I don’t have any statistics to share, but my patients are satisfied, and ultimately, they are the ones who matter.”
