What’s your potential? What’s your team’s potential? How about your practice? How far can you go in achieving the best care possible for your patients as well as professional success for yourself and those who work for you? Reaching those goals requires education, experience, business know-how, and investment in technology and equipment designed for efficiency and efficacy.

Henry Schein knows a little bit about what you’re trying to achieve and how to get there. That’s why the manufacturer offers several solutions within its Maxima product family aimed specifically at enhancing efficiency and helping dental practices maintain maximum forward momentum.

Sterilization: A Critical Backstage Process

What dental teams do behind the scenes has a profound impact on what occurs in the operatory. All of that back-room work keeps patients safe, maintains equipment…and takes time. It certainly can’t be skipped or “short-cutted,” but with access to the right tools, practices can ensure a smooth and efficient operation that allows them to put their focus primarily on caring for patients in the chair.

Henry Schein’s Maxima Advanced Ultrasonic Cleaner MA210 (formerly known as Maxima PowerClean 210 Ultrasonic Cleaner) and Maxima Turbo Class B Sterilizer are just 2 examples of equipment designed to help dental teams keep work flowing.

MAXIMA ADVANCED ULTRASONIC CLEANER MA210

Henry Schein designed the Maxima Advanced Ultrasonic Cleaner MA210 for quick and thorough instrument cleaning. For 1 layer of loose instruments or a single cassette, the unit runs for about 5 minutes; for 2 layers, the average cleaning time is 10 minutes.

“My office loves this unit,” said April Curtis, RDH. “We liked the fast cleaning, and the unit looks nice. I think this is an excellent unit for a multidoctor and/or hygiene practice.” Melanie Davis, RDH, who works in a Utah practice, commented on the unit’s ability to remove particularly tough material from instruments. “I ran it through a 5-minute cycle, and when I came back, the debris/blood had been removed,” she said. “It’s magical!”

Henry Schein also considered post-use in its design of the Maxima Advanced Ultrasonic Cleaner MA210. By positioning the draining valve on the side of the unit, it’s especially easy to drain and then clean. “It’s easy to use, and once the fluid drains out, it is easy to wipe clean,” said Lydia Pope.

MAXIMA TURBO CLASS B STERILIZER

Ease of use and fast cycle times are 2 features key to sterilization efficiency. The Maxima Turbo Class B Sterilizer offers both and then some. Sterilization rooms require compact equipment. This sterilizer is both portable and stackable, making it ideal for small spaces. In addition, its high-resolution digital display is easy to read, and the emergency mode allows for 7-minute sterilization of unwrapped instruments for immediate use.

Dr. Susie Worm, who has a practice in Lincoln, NE, found the Turbo Class B Sterilizer’s speed especially impressive. “I feel like it’s much quicker than what I’ve used before,” she said. “I also like that it shows on the face of it where it is in the running cycle.”

Handpieces: Center Stage Performer

Dentists have different preferences and needs when it comes to handpieces. Some prefer air while others select electric. Many dentists look for special features that aid performance or can support them during specific types of cases. However, no matter the individual preference, all clinicians want a handpiece that’s durable, reliable, and competitively priced.

Look no further than Henry Schein’s line of Maxima handpieces, which include the Classic Series, Core Series, Specialty Series, and Advanced Series.

MAXIMA ADVANCED

If you’re looking for quiet operation, a smooth ride, enhanced cutting power, or reduced vibration, consider the Maxima Advanced High-Speed Air Handpiece. Dr. Albert Lee, who has a practice in Annapolis, MD, and typically uses electric handpieces, described the Maxima Advanced as “easy to move around and comfortable to use. I’m used to electric, so it was a bit different in a good way.”

Dr. Nate Lewis used the Maxima Advanced to remove an existing bridge and to prep. “It worked very well and did not burn through a lot of burs,” he said. “It also kept chair time minimal.”

As a pediatric dentist, Dr. John Jackfert cares for somewhat impatient and squirmy young patients. For that reason, he requires a handpiece that he can control easily. “Kids are constantly moving their heads and tongues around,” he said. “I loved how this handpiece would stop on the drop of a dime to prevent any iatrogenic damage to the tongue, mucosa, and teeth. I felt more confident and could work quicker knowing that once my foot left the pedal, the handpiece would immediately stop rotating.”

MAXIMA PRO 2AR

Henry Schein understands the concerns of patients and practice teams when it comes to infection prevention. Handpieces, unfortunately, serve as daily generators of aerosols that can spread contamination throughout an operatory. To address that issue, Henry Schein designed the Maxima Pro 2AR high-speed, air-driven handpiece to reduce airborne particle emissions and to prevent the suck-back of fluid and particles into the patient’s mouth. It does all this without sacrificing power and performance.

Dr. Robin Henderson has found that most smaller handpieces have less power and torque than their larger counterparts. However, that wasn’t true with the Maxima PRO 2AR. “Although it is smaller than my pedo handpiece, it had more power and torque than my other handpieces.” She also noted that it allowed her to work faster and more efficiently and the small size gave her “much improved access to areas that would ordinarily slow me down.”

Take a Bow

Patients pay attention to the workflow of a practice. Think of them as your audience. When they see you and your team performing at maximum efficiency, they’re confident in the care you provide. To ensure you receive rave reviews and a standing ovation, invest in instruments and equipment that let your excellent care and top-notch team shine.
