Most clinicians look for a cement that’s strong and adhesive, esthetic and nonir-ritating, and that provides a good marginal seal. But one quality that’s a bit unexpected in a cement is accident forgiveness, a feature not just for car insurance companies. Dr. Timothy Bizga says it’s his reason for using Doxa Dental’s Ceramir Crown & Bridge to cement crowns.

Dr. Bizga started using the product years ago, when he received it as a sample in his general and implant dentistry practice in Parma, OH.

“Once I began to use the cement and learn more of its features and benefits, I stayed the course,” Dr. Bizga shared. “I have cemented all of my mother’s crowns with this product. If I use it on Mom, you know I think it’s special!”

Paving the way as the first product in a new class of unique materials, Ceramir Crown & Bridge is the only calcium aluminate/glass ionomer hybrid on the market. As a hydrophilic and biocompatible luting cement, it works well in moist environments and seamlessly blends with natural tooth structure. Its thermal properties are similar to dental tissue, which helps minimize stress and microleakage, and ensures successful integration with irregularities on the contact surface. Over time, Ceramir remains chemically stable in the oral environment, and becomes stronger as compressive strength increases.

“When working in challenging conditions or with a difficult patient, having a cement capable of tolerating moist environments—while yielding an excellent result—is a great relief and reduces stress,” said Dr. Bizga.

One of Ceramir’s defining qualities is its high pH. Unlike other cements on the market, it creates an alkaline environment that’s nonirritating and resistant to acid and bacterial decay.

“What has always intrigued me about Ceramir is that it is alkaline in pH,” said Dr. Bizga. “With so much of our modern diets contributing to a lower oral pH, it is welcoming to find a cement with a unique chemistry that combats the daily acid attacks on our precious crown margins.”

Backed by scientific evidence and real-world clinical application, Ceramir Crown & Bridge is easy to use and handle, with no etching, priming, bonding, or conditioning needed. Viscoelastic consistency helps crowns slip easily into place, and best of all, it’s easy to remove excess cement.

“When I look for a luting cement, I need something that’s simple to use, effective at retaining the crown, and easy to clean up,” shared Dr. Bizga. “Ceramir has all of these, which is why I consistently use it.”
