Life is filled with temporary solutions like renting before owning a home or interning before committing to a full-time position, and each solution has 1 common denominator. It is a brief transitional phase on the path to achieving a long-term goal. A temporary dental restoration is no different. Although it’s just 1 step in the journey, it plays an invaluable role in protecting prepared teeth during the wait for a permanent restoration.
Just like permanent restorations require specific materials depending on a patient’s clinical needs, temporary restorations do not have a 1-size-fits-all solution. The Tempit family offers 4 temporary filling and sealing material formulas—Tempit, Tempit-E, Tempit L/C, and Tempit Ultra-F—to deliver the best outcome in any clinical situation.
Clinician Convenience
Designed for clinician convenience, all Tempit products come in prefilled, unit-dose tips for precise delivery directly into the prep using Centrix’s convenient Snap-Fit C/R dispensing gun, or any composite tip gun. Delivered with no mixing, spatulation, or mess, Tempit “is definitely a timesaver,” said Dr. Ritu Dureja. “It’s more convenient because you don’t have to mix it.”
Four Products, 1 Family
A moisture-activated temporary filling and sealing material, Tempit sets in 5 minutes or less and expands slightly when set for a complete seal. “For smaller areas and endo access openings, Tempit works very well,” shared Dr. Craig Aebli. “It seals the tooth well for short-term cases, and it’s convenient.”
Ideal for medium-term temporaries, light-activated Tempit L/C sets firmly in 40 seconds or less but remains flexible for easy removal with an instrument. No etchant or bonding agent is required, and it’s suitable for covering orthodontic brackets or sealing implant screw access openings.
Tempit-E adds eugenol to the Tempit formula, giving it anti-inflammatory and local anesthetic effects to help pulpal healing and relieve discomfort. When activated with moisture, it sets in 5 minutes and expands slightly for a complete seal. Calling it “an easy-to-use tool to quickly seal a sensitive tooth,” Dr. Peter Schott said Tempit-E is a great temporary solution until the patient can return for more treatment or see a specialist.
For longer-term temporaries, Tempit Ultra-F is a rigid, hard-wearing material that’s ideal for bruxers and deciduous teeth. Its light-activated formula sets in 40 seconds or less and releases fluoride for added protection.
A Versatile Solution
Whether it’s used to facilitate pulpal healing, as a temporary material for inlay and onlays, or to seal endo access cavities, Tempit has a formula that will provide patient comfort and protection while paving the way for a final restoration. “Tempit saves me time with every use, and I know I can depend on it,” said Dr. Aebli. “It is really an ideal application.”
