Encore D/C MiniMix
With convenient single-dose dispensing, an ergonomic needle mixing tip for precise delivery, and a nonslumping formula, this dual-cure material simplifies core buildups and post/core procedures
If you have ever played the game Jenga, you know that to win you should never pull out the bottom blocks because the tower needs a strong foundation to stay upright. If you do remove one of the blocks from the base layer, you risk destabilizing the entire tower, which can cause it all to come tumbling down. Just like the Jenga tower, a dental crown needs a strong foundation. But unlike Jenga, placing a crown is not a game, and having a reliable core buildup material is key to restorative success.
Centrix’s Encore D/C MiniMix, a dual-cure core buildup material dispensed in a single dose with a long, bendable mixing tip, is an excellent option for creating a strong foundation for core buildups or for fabricating a post and core. “The MiniMix delivery system simplifies the process of adding buildup material to the tooth surface without voids,” shared Dr. Rodney Cobb, who said the automix syste
m, reliable material flow, and consistency of the mix “help streamline a crown preparation and create an ergonomic, convenient environment for procedural success.”
MiniMix Technology
The Encore D/C MiniMix unit-dose technology eliminates waste and cross-contamination concerns, and, according to Centrix, it’s the only dual-cure core material available in a single dose. The Encore D/C MiniMix kit contains 36 single-dose cartridges. Each cartridge has 2 mixing nozzles and Centrix’s exclusive needle tip that helps deliver the material to the bottom of a post hole.
“I love the single application, no cross-contamination” design of Encore D/C MiniMix, Dr. Mitchell Pasenkoff confessed. “I like that it comes in carpule form, which can be used with any composite gun,” shared Dr. Shari Mathew, who said the delivery system is “very convenient, efficient, and eliminates waste.”
The compact size, in conjunction with a long mixing tip with a bendable end, enables easy application down canals in second and third molars. “The tips are useful to reach difficult areas,” shared Dr. Analia Veitz-Keenan, who also liked that the MiniMix technology “virtually eliminates waste.” In addition, the delivery of Encore D/C MiniMix is more ergonomic and convenient than using a traditional thumb-push syringe, according to Centrix. “The MiniMix system fits into my commonly used composite compule delivery guns, allowing me to easily maneuver and deliver the core material,” explained Dr. Jonathan Dubin.
Handling/Viscosity & Curing
Encore D/C MiniMix is dual cure, while light activation for 40 seconds provides a complete cure, according to Centrix. Dr. Pasenkoff praised the dual-cure nature of the material, and Dr. Mathew said the dual-cure activation allows “the material to set from the bottom.”
Featuring a nonslumping formula, Encore D/C MiniMix can be used without a matrix, if necessary. Noting that the material “doesn’t slump and stays in place,” Dr. Mathew found it to be “very easy to handle during treatment.” Dr. Pasenkoff agreed and called it a “better nonslumping dental material,” and Dr. Veitz-Keenan proclaimed, “The consistency is just right for application.” Describing the viscosity of the material as “about perfect,” Dr. Dubin explained that Encore D/C MiniMix “flows where I need it but does not slump or flow away from where I place it.” Dr. Cobb said the material’s “ease of use, malleability, and reliability with each case” were some of his favorite features of Encore D/C MiniMix.
Time Savings
To reduce ditching, Centrix designed Encore D/C MiniMix to cut like dentin, which was verified by Dr. Pasenkoff, who called it a “hard material that cuts very similar to dentin” and said it’s “one of the better materials on the market.”
Due to Encore D/C MiniMix’s small size and ease of use, clinicians save valuable chair time. Because of its handling properties and single dose carpule system, Dr. Mathew said Encore D/C MiniMix “definitely saves time compared to other core buildup materials.” Dr. Veitz-Keenan agreed that it “saves time because you do not have to mix different components,” and Dr. Cobb confided that the delivery system simplifies procedures, decreasing the time needed to complete them. These time-saving features, combined with Encore D/C MiniMix’s cost-effectiveness, allow dentists to pass the savings along to their patients.
Overall Satisfaction
“It is a very efficient system, especially in hard-to-reach areas in the mouth,” divulged Dr. Pasenkoff, and Dr. Dubin called Encore D/C MiniMix “my go-to material to complete a root canal restoration or use as a utility material during root canal procedures.” Dr. Cobb concluded, “I would recommend this product to obtain a consistent, reliable outcome preparing a root canal-treated tooth or as buildup when completing a crown preparation on tooth structures.”
