Nonslumping, dual-cure Encore D/C, available in MiniMix and Automix, can be light-activated to accelerate the set
“The bendable metal tip is key for getting close, because the material is pretty thin when it first flows,” Dr. Lyford said. He found Encore D/C’s initial flowability as a significant improvement over previous materials that did not adapt well to preparations.
Despite its flowability—Encore D/C does not slump and can be used without a matrix if necessary. To reduce ditching, Centrix designed the material to cut like dentin. “It flows well, sets up hard, and preps similar to dentin,” Dr. Lyford said.
Choose Your Delivery
Encore D/C is available in the standard Automix format and the more popular MiniMix single-dose cartridges. The 0.5-mL single-dose technology eliminates waste and cross-contamination concerns. Its smaller size is more easily maneuvered in the mouth and can be less intimidating for patients.
Dr. Lyford has enjoyed success with the Automix delivery, but recently tried the MiniMix and lauded the format. “It’s much easier [to maneuver in the mouth] than the original gun,” he said. “It was perfect in that regard.” With its superior curing capabilities, flowability, and ease of use, Encore D/C continues to be a reliable choice for dentists looking for consistent results in core buildups.
