An easy-to-use positioner that allows clinicians to take X-rays while keeping instruments in place during endodontic treatments

If there’s one thing endo treatments all have in common, it’s that they have very little in common. Never an easy treatment, clinicians find themselves having to adjust to almost constant unpredictability. Wedged into this unpredictability—and virtually the only component most endo treatments do, indeed, have in common—is the often unanticipated and sudden need for an x-ray or two.

For clinicians, taking X-rays during endo procedures further complicates already challenging care. For example, progress X-rays often involve files that need to remain within the canal. Standard sensor positioners are not designed for the challenge of protruding instruments. These X-rays are essential, and until now, there hasn't been a positioner uniquely designed to address the many challenges of endodontic procedures. Flow Dental, however, has introduced an offshoot of its popular Sensibles sensor positioner called Endo Sensibles.

Endo Sensibles has many of the features of regular Sensibles but includes a window area as part of its bite block design—a feature that enables clinicians to take the necessary images while instruments remain in the canal during progress checks.

Images Without Interruption

A leader in unique imaging accessory products that are universally adaptable to most of today’s imaging equipment and products, Flow Dental designed Endo Sensibles to accommodate various sensor sizes, shapes, and thicknesses, while also offering a universal fit.

Bruce Schulman, DDS, PA, in Boynton Beach, FL, found Endo Sensibles to be "very useful" and said that the holder offered a more comfortable chairside experience for his endo patients.

“Besides making it more comfortable for my patients, Endo Sensibles solved the problem of taking radiographs with a rubber dam in place, and made the process easier,” Dr. Schulman shared.

Endo Sensibles features an adjustable ratcheting gripper, which enables it to hold any size sensor firmly in place. The unique design also allows clinicians to adjust the sensor relative to the bite block of the positioner.

Additionally, the open window design of the bite block provides a generous amount of room for clinicians to work around instruments that can conveniently remain in the canals during the imaging process—a common occurrence during endodontic treatment.

A Uniquely Open Design for Easier Access

“I was looking for a different design to try to make access easier,” shared April Detar, DMD, who owns a general dentistry practice in State College, PA. She added, "I liked that this was small, in relation to other X-ray sensor holders. Plus, I was able to get endo x-rays with the product still in place.”

Along with patient comfort, the benefit of being able to keep instruments in place while taking images was also a key convenience for John Jackfert, DDS, who practices in Saint Albans, WV.

“The design of the Endo Sensibles made it possible to take an x-ray with a file in the tooth, and it allowed me to not have to hold the sensor myself inside the patient’s mouth,” he shared. "In one case, I was taking a periapical of tooth No. 4 and didn't get the apex in the film," Dr. Jackfert explained. "Instead of having to stop, I was able to quickly adjust the holder and take a vertical periapical in seconds."

Lightweight, Adjustable, and Easy to Use

Lightweight for increased patient comfort and available in color-coded sizes, Endo Sensibles adjusts to several heights, and the bite area provides ample space to accommodate a mouth prop or cotton roll.

Easy to use, inexpensive, and autoclavable, Endo Sensibles is adaptable to use on any tooth in any region of the mouth.
