Maxima PowerClean 210 Ultrasonic Cleaner
With uncompromised performance and design, the Maxima PowerClean 210 is a powerful ultrasonic cleaner with industry-leading fast cycle clean times
When patients are waiting and the clock is ticking, time is of the essence, and any process or product that can help a dental office run more efficiently is a welcome addition. And while cleaning and sterilizing instruments usually occurs behind the scenes, it’s a time-consuming endeavor undertaken by clinicians who can be far more valuable if their time was spent with patients. Bringing efficiency front and center, the Maxima PowerClean 210 Ultrasonic Cleaner from Henry Schein Brand is engineered for powerful cleaning with advanced technology and industry-leading fast cycle clean times.
Amazed with the unit’s ability to “clean instruments with cement and composite buildup extremely well,” Heather Richardson enjoyed the “shortened time spent in the sterilization area.” Calling the PowerClean 210 “perfect for hygiene cassettes,” Linda Kovary Bell said, “It saved time by holding several cassettes at once and reducing the number of cycles to 1 instead of several—without overcrowding the ultrasonic.” She also “loved the timer with the countdown feature” and shared, “I absolutely love the Maxima PowerClean 210 Ultrasonic Cleaner.”
Quiet Operation & Ease of Use
The PowerClean 210 features several convenient features, including quiet operation, an easy-to-read digital timer, a convenient drainage system, a detachable lid with holder, and a stainless-steel cleaning tank. “It was very easy to use and was much quieter than the current model we use,” noted Heather Locker. Several others agreed, with Melanie Davis saying, “I love how quiet it is,” and Lydia Pope calling it “extremely quiet” so she could have a conversation while it was running. “The ultrasonic was incredibly quiet and easy to use,” echoed Michele Byrd, who also praised the degassing feature, size of the unit, and the lid alert feature.
“It’s easy to use, and once the fluid drains out, it is easy to wipe clean,” said Pope, who appreciated the LED display. Misty Mesimer liked “the digital face and push button start” but suggested an attached lid, and 2 hygienists said the lid sometimes dripped water. Both Pope and Dana Jones appreciated the place to store the lid on the back of the unit, and Richardson said, “The degassing cycle is a great added benefit as well as the lid alarm.”
The PowerClean 210 is designed for quick and convenient draining with a drain valve on the side of the unit, which made it “very easy to control draining,” said Byrd. Lois Palermo said, “It was really quick to drain the tank,” while Pope said the fluid did not drain completely unless she slightly tipped the unit.
Speed & Efficiency of Cleaning
Engineered for quick and powerful cleaning, the PowerClean 210 has a typical cleaning time of 5 minutes for 1 layer of loose instruments or cassette and 10 minutes for 2 layers. “It has a large capacity and is faster than our old unit,” said Curtis. “The shorter running times were impressive with how well the unit cleaned the instruments,” shared Richardson, who liked that she could stay in the sterilization area while the cycle ran and get the items out to dry before leaving the room. “It cleaned up surgical instruments and instruments with residual cement and composite nicely,” said Richardson. “There was an amazing amount of old cement and composite that came off the instruments.” April Curtis said, “My hygiene scalers were clean all the time,” and Palermo said she “didn’t have to scrub the instruments before putting them in the cleaner. It cleaned instruments efficiently for quick turnaround time.” Davis said the unit easily cleaned dried blood off instruments. “I ran it through a 5-minute cycle, and when I came back, the debris/blood had been removed. It’s magical!”
Fit of Cassettes/Instruments
The PowerClean 210 features a 2.1-gallon tank that Byrd calls “great for our large volume of hygiene instruments, making it easier to clean more instruments and to clean them better,” although she said some instruments poked through the slats in the basket. Palermo liked that it was “big enough to separate instruments from each other,” and Curtis said it was “nice to have more space for instruments.” While Pope thought the unit took up too much counter space, she appreciated that 4 instrument cassettes fit inside. For Kovary Bell, “the size of the basket made it easier to bag the instruments for sterilization without being overcrowded.”
Overall Satisfaction
Noting that she would recommend the Maxima PowerClean 210 Ultrasonic Cleaner to colleagues because it does a good job, Pope shared, “My office loves this unit.” Curtis concluded, “We liked the fast cleaning, and the unit looks nice. I think this is an excellent unit for a multidoctor and/or hygiene practice.”
